A row of colourful houses along the bank of the river Inn with the Alps in the background
A black and white flamingo, taken at the Birdland park in Boulton-on-the-water, Cotswolds, UK.
Removing the pink colour and darkening the background enhanced the shapes of bird’s neck, wings and body. I also added some extra noise for a vintage look.
Blackberry Orca J27
This killer whale is called Blackberry or J-27. It’s one of the Southern Resident Orcas of the Pacific Northwest, from the “J” pod. Here pictured in the Boundary Pass on the Canada-US border, with Mount Baker in the background

From National Geographic channel: “Color can soothe us, color can energize us, and color can even wow us. Life in Color, a stunning collection of National Geographic photography, is chock full of amazing photographs that capture the splendor of our world and bring the colors around us to life page by page. A pair of African penguins looking out at the horizon over the sea in Boulders Beach, False Bay, South Africa
I could easily picture them being the original pair that settled here from Antarctica in 1982 and started a colony that has now grown to over 2,000 penguins.
A row of colourful houses in Cape Town, in the Bo-Kaap, the Malay quarter.
It took me a few visits at different times of the day to find the right light and shadows. this was taken around midday, with the minimal shadows and bright light falling overhead and bouncing off the walls on the other side of the street, like a reflector.
The bright colours and the compressed perspective of a long focal range give the view an abstract look. Almost like Lego bricks.
Birds on a wire in the Bo-Kaap, The Cape Malay Quarter, Cape Town
These pigeons perched on power lines look like notes on a music sheet.
I had had this picture in mind for a while and although very simple, it took me a while to come across a good enough pattern with a clear background. Like in this case. I looked up, took one shot and sure enough the birds all took off and were gone.
I caught this seagull stealing my breakfast one morning in Capri, Italy.
The table was nicely set for a breakfast on our room balcony and this seagull just could not help himself. In fact, it did help himself to my muffin!
Maybe it was trying to have it with some jam too.
